Back in the day, you had to create websites from scratch with HTML code.
I ain’t Bill Gates! Thankfully, now there are content management systems like WordPress that make it easy for any ol’ schmo to create their own site.
But just because you don’t have to use HTML anymore doesn’t mean that you can’t. In this post, I’ll show you two methods you can use to add HTML files to WordPress.
Adding HTML Files To WordPress
Method 1: Visual Editor
The easiest way to add a HTML file to your site is to use the WordPress Visual Editor.
Log in to your WordPress account and select “Posts” in the left sidebar. Click on any post and it will be opened in the Visual Editor mode by default.
Once you’re inside a post, click on the “Add Media” button. In the pop-up “Add Media” window, open the “Upload Files” tab. From here, you can click on the “Select Files” button to upload your HTML file, or you can just drag and drop your HTML file directly into the window.
Method 2: cPanel
Another option is to use cPanel. To upload your HTML file through your cPanel account, you need access to your hosting panel. If you don’t have access, contact your web host. Once you’re in, go to “File Manager” in the “Files” section.
Select “Public_HTML” and create a new folder (name it whatever you want).
After the folder is created, open the folder and select “Upload”.
A window will pop up prompting you to upload a file. Click on the “Select File” button and choose the zipped HTML file you want to add.
Once the upload is complete, click on the link at the bottom of the screen to go back to the folder you created.
Your zipped HTML file will be in the folder.
Click on the zipped file and select “Extract” in the top-right corner.
Select “Extract File(s)”.
After you’ve completed this process, right-click and select “Reload”. You’ll be redirected to the “File” section. From there, open the folder you created, and you’ll see the unzipped HTML file in the folder.
That’s it! Your HTML file is now ready to be used on your WordPress website.
